Celebrating Girls Inc. Week: A Spotlight on Mental Health and Community Impact
Girls Inc. of the Valley is proud to join affiliates across the country in celebrating Girls Inc. Week, held this year from May 5 to 9. This annual celebration honors the strength, smarts, and boldness of youth throughout the region, with this year’s theme centering on mental health. From wellness workshops to teen-led discussions, the week highlights the organization’s deep commitment to supporting the emotional well-being of girls and gender-expansive youth in Western Massachusetts.
A major milestone this year is the upcoming completion of renovations at our new headquarters in Holyoke. This historic building, purchased in 2020, is being transformed into a vibrant space for youth development — featuring bright classrooms, a large backyard, and room to grow. With on-site mental health support from River Valley Counseling and partnerships with groups like Ascentria and MADD, the organization is creating an environment where young people can learn, lead, and thrive.
The celebration also coincides with Girls Inc. Together — A Day of Giving on May 8. Donations will directly support on-site and in school programs, from leadership workshops to tutoring and healthy meals. Community support is more vital than ever as Girls Inc. works to address rising youth mental health needs and create a future where every girl can thrive.
