Girls Inc. of the Valley and other Northeastern affiliates hosted TeenCon 2022 at Western New England University.
TeenCon 2022 was a fun weekend opportunity at Western New England University for Girls Inc. teens across the region to network and learn together. TeenCon brought together 70 rising 11th and 12th grade Girls Inc. teens from affiliates across the Northeast region to explore long and short term goals needed for success after high school!
Programming included guest speakers from a variety of fields discussing college and post-secondary preparation, careers, and personal growth. Participants chose which program sessions they want to attend from the schedule. Teens were immersed in the campus experience, sleeping in dorm rooms, eating in the dining hall, and attending sessions in college classrooms and lecture halls.
“The opportunity to collaborate with other Girls Inc. affiliates along the east coast has been incredible”, said Girls Inc. of the Valley’s Executive Director, Suzanne Parker. “The Teen Con planning committee has put together a powerful lineup of workshops led by industry experts, and I know the teens will have a wonderful time learning and collaborating together.”
“The goal of the conference is to support teens in preparing for long and short term plans after they graduate from high school – such as career, college, trade school, and life skills.” said Becca Neubardt, Girls Inc. of the Valley’s Senior Director of Programs. “Some of the activities will include: College Tour, College Student Panel, Career Exploration, Scholarship Writing, Professional and Social Networking, and more.”
