Girls Inc. of the Valley’s new home is located at 480 Hampden Street, Holyoke, MA 01040!
We will be moving into a two-story, 16,630 square foot building where we will continue to serve more than 1,000 girls per year through this expansion. Once renovations are completed, our new location will feature age-appropriate and welcoming programs, learning spaces for girls, a cutting-edge STEM/Maker Space, Library Learning Center, kitchen and dining area, as well as outdoor and indoor recreation/activity spaces. There is a greenspace in the backyard that’ll serve as an outdoor play area, as well as a city park and playground nearby. This purposefully designed, strategically located single Girls Inc. center will serve as a new, transformative space.
“What we need now is the next generation place for Girls Inc. A location that enables our programming to match up to where we want and need to be, for girls,” said Cynthia Medina Carson, Girls Inc. Alumna, board member, and Co-chair of the Her Future, Our Future Campaign.
Our first home, 52 Nick Cosmos Way in Holyoke, served us well for nearly 40 years. This original home holds many memories for girls and women in the area, as it has been a part of the Girls Inc. community for so long. The new space, however, will lead to greater staff efficiency and an enhanced sense of community among staff and volunteers, families and, of course, the girls. We look forward to continuing to assure success is within reach for every young person who enters their doors.
