Girls Inc. of the Valley is looking to the community for support as they shift gears to focus on Giving Tuesday Now with the launch of a virtual fundraiser. Every gift from Giving Tuesday Now, the new groundbreaking global generosity movement, will help Girls Inc. of the Valley continue to grow and change the lives of even more girls.
Giving Tuesday Now is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020, in addition to the regularly scheduled December 1, 2020, as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. May 5, 2020, was also the date Girls Inc. of the Valley had scheduled for their annual Spirit of Girls Breakfast, an event the organization celebrated with the community in years past. The Spirit of Girls Breakfast represents a large portion of their budget, significantly contributing to helping Girls Inc. girls. While sadly the community can’t be together for the Breakfast this year, they are doubling down their effort to support girls by raising funds with the launch of
#GivingTuesdayNow.
Girls Inc. of the Valley is looking to their Spirit of Girls Breakfast Table Ambassadors and the rest of the community to help lead the charge in supporting our girls by encouraging the creation of fundraising pages, donations, and help spreading the word across social platforms. Fundraising pages are suggested to be made personal, by letting donors know why you’re fundraising and passionate about the work done by Girls Inc. of the Valley. The steps to create a fundraising page are simple:
1) Visit https://www.givegab.com/campaigns/girlsincgtnow
2) Click on “start fundraising” in the header
3) Follow along with the step by step toolkit to create your fundraising page
Girls Inc. of the Valley focuses on the whole girl; providing girls with comprehensive programming in healthy living, academic enrichment and support, and life skills instruction. Their trained staff and volunteers build lasting, mentoring relationships in a girls-only environment that is physically and emotionally safe. The girls are included in a sisterhood of support, high expectations and mutual respect. With research-based and age-appropriate programming, Girls Inc. of the Valley meets the needs of today’s girls and leads to positive outcomes.
“Although we can’t be together at our Spirit of Girls Breakfast, utilizing #GivingTuesdayNow on May 5th will allow us to continue to support girls in the Valley during this unprecedented time,” said Suzanne Parker, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of the Valley. “We are grateful for our Table Ambassadors and the enthusiasm they have for our mission, as well as their desire to roll up their sleeves and fundraise to keep our girls strong, smart, bold, and safe.”
Girls Inc. of the Valley fights for a future where girls are not stereotyped, where opportunities exist for them to prepare for interesting work and become economically independent – and receive equal pay for equal work. The role of the community is vital. All partners understand how important it is for Girls Inc. of the Valley to be there for girls right now, especially during trying times due to COVID-19. Many are home alone or looking after a sibling while their parents are at work helping our community thrive. Girls Inc. of the Valley is asking if you can, to participate in #GivingTuesdayNow to keep our girls strong, smart, bold, AND SAFE.
